Activity Report from an OurLakeshore.net writer
..."came home yesterday and noticed 2 police cars on our street (8th). Not sure if anyone has more details on this, but a neighbour was nice enough to fill me in and it appears a few houses were broken into as well as one on lakeshore drive I believe. It's never a good feeling to come home to, and as much as it seems like it's always isolated to our neighbourhood, it's a problem that exists all through the city. Friends of mine in the Sunnylea area have seen increased crime, some of which have been more malicious. As mentioned in a previous post it's a good idea not to leave valuables, liquor or keys in plain sight. From the sounds of it, it's kids looking for something quick to grab and leave. They end up making more money in damages than what they take. Also, investing in security alarm may help to deter them (which also lowers your insuarance premium)."

Advice from an OurLakeshore.net writer
"A few of the break ins have been for stealing alcohol, from what I've heard, just make sure also that you conceal your wine in cupboards and having nothing valuable left on the counter tops (car keys, cell phones, wallets) you can't exactly hide your tv, Do your best not to leave anything that would be a motive for someone breaking in. Do not leave your purse on the arm of a chair either. Just a few ideas I thought I'd share. Same with valuables in your car."

4th and 5th Street and Lakeshore Drive area
..."There was another break at my next door neighbour's on Friday during the day, possibly morning. It was with force through the front door on a well exposed verandah. Please keep this in mind when locking up and leaving for the day."
